General information on your drinking water
The native community of Gesgapegiag draws its potable water supply from two (2) wells. Treatment is minimal and consists of a simple chlorination before distribution. The wells are protected by a building and the treated water is stored in underground reservoirs. Three distribution pumps and an emergency diesel motor pump supplies the community with its drinking water. The estimated population served by the system is 772 persons.
General information on your wastewater system
The sewage system of the community Gesgapegiag is used by a population of 664. The sewage collection system comprises 3 lift stations (Main, Church road and Bayview). The wastewater is pumped to the treatment site where it goes through a bar screen before entering two aerated lagoons divided into three cells. Finally, the treated water is deposited into the Chaleur Bay via a ditch.
