General information on your wastewater system
The sewage collection system comprises 7 lift stations. The various drainage basins are all pumped to Wharf lift station. Wharf lift station also receives sewage from parts of Pointe-à-la-Croix. From Wharf lift station and Chouinard lift station (located in Pointe-à-la-Croix) the wastewater is pumped to the aerated lagoons. Two lagoons in series ensure the treatment before depositing the effluent into the Restigouche river. During the spring, summer and fall months the flow of effluent to the river is controlled and only allowed to flow into the river during the outgoing tide.
